FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PRODUCT INFO

All Clayful product are handmade in our workshop in Vantaa, they are made of porcelain and fired to 1290C. All the products are glazed inside with a food safe lead-free glazes, some wares are glazed outside with the same kind of glaze. Products that are left unglazed on the outside are wet sanded after the last firing, resulting in a silky-matte surface.

DISHWASHER, MICROWAVE and OVEN

Unless otherwise stated, the products are dishwasher and microwave safe. They are not ovenproof and do not tolerate dramatic change in temperature (for example, going to oven straight from freezer).

CLEANING and MAINTAINANCE

Although our wares are vitrified (it means that the temperature in the kiln was high enough to turn certain amount of clay component into glass, and make porcelain impecible for water) and water absorption tends to zero, unglazed surfaces are still more susceptible to stains than glazed ceramics. To prevent a stain from becoming persistent, keep the wares clean with frequent hand- or machine- wash.

Stains can typically be removed by a thorough wash in a dishwasher, or by scrubbing the surface with the abrasive side of a sponge using dishwashing liquid. For mor stubborn stains, a melamine sponge can be effective.
